Somatics: The language of the body
I’ve been exploring the body in practice since 1981. I was a structural massage therapist specializing in neuromuscular therapy, a form of injury treatment work. In 2001 I became a Feldenkrais® practitioner, a methodology that helps us discover hidden patterns that cause pain, strain and limitation. Functional movement work supports the idea that our body can innately return to greater ease and function when we increase our awareness and attention to the ways in which we move.
More recently, I’ve studied Somatic Experiencing and Co-regulating touch. All of movement relates to our history, and these practices have enhanced my practice with the Feldenkrais Method.
