Individual sessions: I work with these three movement and healing modalities.

These are all very different modalities; however, they all intersect to support greater embodied presence, function, and capacity to adapt to changes within ourselves and how we interact with the world. They all seek to bring about changes in the patterns that are within ourselves, patterns that were useful at one point and now no longer serve us. All of these modalities support greater nervous system regulation and balance.

We are designed to heal and find enjoyment within ourselves. Our attention and awareness within the body can slowly support our movement towards a better life.

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING®

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-based approach to healing trauma. Challenging episodes can often remain locked in our bodies in movement patterns. Peter Levine developed this methodology to support the slow release of traumatic shock, and to restore healthy nervous system regulation.

- The body has been designed to renew itself through continuous self-correction. These same principles also apply to the healing of psyche, spirit and soul.

- Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.

FELDENKRAIS METHOD®

The Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education uses gentle movement and directed attention to help people learn new and more effective ways of living. Individual sessions, or group lessons, can bring you into greater ease, efficiency and balance.

 -  Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.

 - Nothing is permanent about our behavior patterns except our belief that they are so.

COREGULATING TOUCH

Somaticresilienceandregulation is a program that focuses on understanding the effects of developmental trauma on the child, as well as the adult. Non-verbal trauma can include early childhood trauma, surgical procedures, accidents and injuries. Transforming the Experience-Based Brain® is another certification program that delves into coregulating touch, also referred to as transforming touch.

Kathy Kain developed this work - somaticpractice.net, along with Steve Terrell - Austinattach.com.

These touch modalites support greater nervous system regulation, and an increased capacity to more easily ride the waves of being human in the 21st century.
